Cultural Center & Creative Arts: Living Heritage & Expression

Rooted in the ancient Newari and multi-ethnic soil of Sarlahi, Hajariya Kalpavriksha Secondary School preserves cultural history not as an exhibit, but as an active, student-led living art form spanning pottery, dance, music, and sacred festivals.

Sarlahi's Signature School Festival

5+ Consecutive Years of Indra Jatra & Lakhey Heritage

Hajariya Kalpavriksha Secondary School’s annual **Indra Jatra celebration** is one of the most distinguished cultural preservation initiatives in Sarlahi. Spanning over five uninterrupted years, the festival brings sacred heritage directly into the educational curriculum.

Senior student **Alex Shrestha** performs the intense steps of the protective deity Lakhey in full handcrafted silk attire, while **Meghna Shrestha** represents the living goddess Kumari. The entire tempo is provided live by student musicians on Dhime drums and Bhusya cymbals, coached by Cultural Lead **Aarti Shrestha** and guided by community custodian **Mr. Bal Gopal Shrestha**.
